Properties: 1,3,6-Naphthalene trisulfonic acid trisodium salt hydrate is a white crystalline solid with good solubility. It is an organic sulfonic acid salt with good solubility and stability.
Applications: It is mainly used as a dye intermediate and finds wide applications in the dye industry and organic synthesis field. Additionally, it can be used for the preparation of other organic synthesis intermediates and pharmaceutical raw materials.
Synthesis: 1,3,6-Naphthalene trisulfonic acid trisodium salt is synthesized by reducing and nitration of 1,3,6-trinitronaphthalene followed by sulfonation under alkaline conditions.
Safety: 1,3,6-Naphthalene trisulfonic acid trisodium salt hydrate is generally considered to have low toxicity and good stability under normal industrial usage conditions. However, inhalation of its dust or solution should be avoided, as well as skin and eye contact. Proper personal protective equipment should be worn during handling, and adequate ventilation should be ensured.
Firstly, a sulfonation reaction occurs between refined naphthalene and oleic acid to obtain 1,3,6 naphthalene trisulfonic acid. After diluting the product, lime is added to neutralize excess sulfuric acid and react with naphthalene trisulfonic acid to obtain calcium salt of naphthalene trisulfonic acid. After the calcium salt is filtered and washed, pure alkali is added to the filter cake to react with it to obtain the sodium salt of naphthalene trisulfonic acid. Filter, wash, and dry the reaction products to obtain the finished product.
